Shah Alam - Clearing works are underway at the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway from KM66.1 to KM66.4 headed to Bentong following a landslide and several uprooted trees late last night.
The expressway’s official twitter account @LPTTrafik for Gombak-Karak-Kuantan-Jabor posted the notice at 3.10am.
The roads are still closed to all vehicles.
According to @LPTTrafik, KM66.1 to KM66.4 and KM67.8 headed to KL are experiencing mud floods, while KM52.4 also headed to KL is experiencing rising water levels. Vehicles are still able to pass KM52.4 as of now.
Several videos and photos have been shared on social media platforms by those stranded.
Among those involved was the actor, Fizo Omar who uploaded a video saying he was stranded with other road users.
"There’s a landslide on the Karak highway heading to Kuala Lumpur. All the cars are stuck here and it is not possible turn back,” he said in his post, urging people to postpone their plans to use the highway.
Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar confirmed the incident as reported by Berita Hairan, adding that personnel has been dispatched to the scene.
